SUMMARY:Oaksterdam University: California Regulatory Agencies Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, Oct. 12\, 2020\, 10:00 AM PST\nWebinar 4:  ALRB (Part Two) – Agricultural Labor Rights and Cultivation Employee Protections (Employer focus)\n1-hour w/ 30 min Q&A (1.5 hours total)\n\n\nFor all cultivation and nursery licenses\, to help employers maintain a safe and productive workplace by ensuring they are trained on their responsibilities under the law. All CA agricultural employees\, indoor included\, have certain rights under the Agricultural Labor Relations Act (ALRA) to “ensure peace in the agricultural fields by guaranteeing justice for all agricultural workers and stability in labor relations.” The Act describes and protects the rights of agricultural employees to make their own decisions about whether or not they want a union to negotiate with their employer about their wages\, hours\, and other working conditions. Where the employees have selected a union to represent them\, the Act requires that the employer bargain in good faith with the union concerning wages\, hours\, and other working conditions. Even if no union is present\, two or more workers may act together to ask their employer to change their wages\, hours\, or other terms and conditions of their employment without fear of discharge or retaliation. The ALRB enforces the ALRA\, conducts elections\, and is the remedy for unfair labor practices.
